OK THIS IS A GREAT IDEA RIGHT? WRONG HERE IS WHY:YESTERDAYSAW A COMERCIAL BY GMC WANTING YOU TO USE THE CASH FOR CLUNKERS PROGRAM TO BUY A BRAND NEW PICKUP TRUCK(GAS GUZZLER) OR A NEW SUV(GAS GUZZLER). SO MUCH FOR GM BEING A BETTER COMPANY.CREATING BETTER CARS.
THIS IS WHY MY WIFE AND I BOUGHT A HONDA FIT 27 MPG CITY!!!! FORD,GM,CHRYSLER MATCH THAT KIND OF PERFORMANCE! MATCH THAT KINK OF DRIVE TO MAKE A CAR THAT WILL LAST.

They have a similar scheme here where they give money if you trade in your car for a more economical one – that makes more sense. Good for you buying a car that uses less gas.
Akelamalu,the concept is sound,the practice that is being done is not.say you have a car that gets 18 miles per gal. you can use this program to buy a new CAR Or TRUCK that get 20 mpg.where is the common sence in that.

I agree with you. The American car companies seem to be just grabbing the money as usual.
I saw some data that showed that most people were trading in to buy cars that got 10-12 mpg more than the clunker. That makes a lot of sense.
Wanda's Wings,Yep.Grampy,Now a lot of people that use this program are doing the right thing.There are those that are abusing the program and are buying a gas guzzler that get just 2 miles a gal more that the clunker.Syd this is true.What I'm refering to it the lastest commercial that GMC is running saying use your clash for clunkers program with us to by a new TRUCK OF SUV,Now that is just a down right rip off of the program.
my brother availed of this cash for clunkers program and got himself a mini cooper.
PinkLady,this is what the program was ment for higher mileage not just 2 mpg more as the auto industry is pushing.
