Today I’m in one of those moods when remembering my past is a good thing,Long ago on August 8,1971 I took my oath of enlistment. and went to Lacklan AFB for basic training. I was thinking of all the USAF Bases I have been to via TDY’s (Tempory Duty Assignments) most have been shut down by the USAF (Pease AFB Chanute AFB Castle AFB) and or The Host countries that I have been in like The Philippines (Clark Air Base), Like Tiawan (CCK Air Base) and Thailand (2 bases Udorn and Utapao air bases) there are patches for them and of course the one base that is still open Lackland AFB.and there was another Airforce base in the Sacramento area Mather AFB and McClellan AFB (the base where I was assigned to the 2951st Combat level support squadron) and one other base in the Sacramento are that was an Army depot base. I took a years Early Out because there was an overage in my field and rank (Aircraft Electrician and SGT E-4) I was on a controlled tour of duty (4 Years) so I could not cross train and stay in the USAF so on August 08,1974 3 years to the day of my enlistment I processed out of the USAF. I am very Proud of my time in the USAF,because I was able to Honor my Dad’s service to our country in the Army Air Force when He enlisted in 1946 and the USAF when he got out in 1949.
