Let’s not forget the TDY’s to CONUS(continental U.S.)
My Air Force Base (McClellan) and my Buddies Airforce base (Mather)
Sandee, yes I did and was glad that I got to see the places I did. the Air Force never went back to Clark Air Base after the eruption, the lease was due for renewal that same year and the Navy pulled out in 1992.
I would not like to have been there when the volcano erupted. What devastation! Thank you for your service, Mike. I am so proud and honored by the bravery of people like yourself. God bless you!
CAAC I was proud to raise my hand and thake the oatgh of enlistment on August 08,1971. by scoring high enought to be able to join the USAF was an honor in it’s self, and to follow my Dad’s footsteps He was US Army Air Force when he enlisted in 1946.and by the time he got out in 1949 is was the USAF. I know he was Proud of me for enlisting. I had signed up on July 12th I believe and was given time to get my affairs in order and report for induction that August 08. it is a good thing I signed up when I did I beat being drafted by one day.
I’m proud of you, too Mike! Being a servicemen comes a huge weight. Our soldiers did not get the proper respect they deserved in the 70s. I was way too young to know about it at the time but after I was I was mortified at the ugliest dished out on our boys, maybe girls, too. What a shame! Thanks for dropping by, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!
