a fun thing to do on Sundays.

I have decided to talk about something my BH and I used to do. before I go into this I have to say what reminded me to write about this.Tina at http://tinasoddsandends.blogspot.com/ has a pic of a chickadee at here suet feeder.
Now I will get to the story. Here in the Cleveland area we have a system of parks nicknamed the Emerald Necklace. The Name of the Park is called Metroparks system. At the Breaksville metro park on Sundays during the months of Jan&Feb,you could go and handfeed two types of birds, the chickadees and the tufted titmouse. It is fun to do first you place birdseed in your bare hand and stand near a young tree, and as quite as you can be, so the birds can land there and then jump into your hand and take a seed and fly off then they return and do the same all over again.one Sunday we had the area to ourselves and between to two of use we had over 50 landing in 20 minuites that a whole bunch of noisy people show up frighting the birds away. The most memorable thing that happened was when I was inside the lodge and watching her,she had a chickadee land on her head,Man did I wish I had my camera to take a picjk of that it would have been a shot of the life time for me.

  1. I saw that photo at Tina\’s. It was very special. I enjoyed reading about your experience. It\’s a shame you didn\’t have a camera, but your memory of the event seems quite clear and vivid. Thanks for sharing.Hugs and blessings,

  2. Awwww how sweet! What an experience that would be. That would be a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. Those kind of memories are the best ones of all! I am glad you have it.

  3. WOW! That would be totally awesome! (and Ido not use that expression lightly.) I am a big bird lover, we have feeders all over our yard and even one stuck on our dining room window. It is so sweet to watch the little creatures up close at that one. THanks Mike.

  4. Mike, This is a great story about the chickadees at the park. I would love to have a chickadee take seeds from my hand. That has got to be a great experience. Thank you for the link to my blog. 🙂
